I clicked on ‘sometimes listen’ as it is not always convenient for have the sound up on my iPad and I’m always keen to see what you have written. But my actual preference is to read along while I listen as I take it in better that way. Maybe I’m just odd?

Not at all Dave. In a recent workshop we were encouraged to read along while the writer read the piece out. Thanks for the feedback.

I clicked on “I prefer to read” for your poll, as I normally scroll right past the audio portion of posts and go right to the words. But after seeing that you took the time to poll your audience, I thought I would listen. You have a soothing voice and recite at such a nice pace, I’d actually probably prefer the voiceover.

Thanks Georgia. I realise that I perhaps need to introduce / explain the voiceovers better as I try to record outdoors and include ambient sound, And also that I don’t think I mentioned the poll in the voiceover… Live and learn, as they say. I’m glad you did listen!

Your voice is calming and words poetic, and photos are lovely.

I love the sense of noticing in your posts Michela, all the small details that bring a place to life. Your voice over is very calming and adds to the mood of the writing. I don't usually listen to these, preferring to read the words in my mind, so listening today was something new, but enjoyable.

Thanks Gill. By default I’m a reader too, but I’m enjoying doing the voiceovers. The question is really to help me judge if the extra ‘bells and whistles’ of recording outdoors - and in this case composing on the hoof - is warranted. But yes, it’s invariably the little things that shift our mood. Yesterday it was a caterpillar crossing the path that when I looked it up turned out to be one of those ‘hummingbird’ moths.

Thank you Paul, you’re very kind. A first time for live ‘on the spot’ reporting!

You are most welcome! I also thought the pauses in your voice and your walking experience contributed to the overall effect. So often, people feel the need to constantly talk when doing these, but I enjoy the space and pauses to reflect. Well done!

Just to answer your question down the bottom, I do usually listen to voiceovers if they are there. It means I can listen and multi task 🙂 I like your voice overs, they are very calming. This one had an additional twenty minutes at the end though where nothing happened, not sure if that was intentional.

Maybe I chilled myself out too much! I was splicing in different tracks and missed a duplicate at the end. I shall trim it and change it on the website. Thanks for pointing it out Sophie.
