Wow! Michela live! That was a great listen Michela, thank you for sharing. We have a resident song thrush too who brightens up our mornings. With the benign weather of late, I’ve managed to do a fair bit of walking, sometimes with camera in hand, sometimes not, so the scrunch of the undergrowth is a familiar, evocative sound. Glad to read that the cat is on the mend, thanks again, D
Thanks Dave, glad you enjoyed this. It’s been good to have a settled spell of weather, and we’ e been lucky with the sunshine. I’m glad you’ve been able to get out walking.
I love that quote Michela, that the best descriptions contain the duality of nature. And your words are exquisite. So sorry to hear your cat is ill - wishing her a quick recovery 🤍
How healing it is to sit back and listen to your recording of the sounds of nature - hearing the song thrush reminds me that spring is here meteorologically tomorrow and all the hope that it brings (although I am more a follower of the Wheel of the Year when it starts at the Spring Equinox festival of Ostara). Some beautiful, gentle images to accompany your words Michela and help us forget about the darkness. I'm sorry to hear about your cat, I do hope that she is on the road to recovery now.
Thank you Lin. Yes, I take tomorrow as the first day of meteorological spring with caution; it’s hard not to imagine that there won’t be another cold spell. Having said that, we’re down to -6C overnight even if the sun feels pleasant and today’s breeze came cold from the Cairngorms, so I’m not optimistic for the garden plants that are greening up already. Crumble is better today, so hopefully we are over the worst of whatever it was that made her suddenly stop eating last Sunday.
Listening to the birds and hearing your rich reflections was magical, Michela! Thank you for sharing. Your newsletter today beautifully captures the interplay of light and darkness in life - a theme I've been immersed in myself this morning. As always, your nature reflections enchant me, and I eagerly look forward to more of your heart-warming observations and artwork. Wishing your poorly cat a speedy recovery!
Thanks Deborah, she’s much improved today, and showing some of her usual ‘catitude’. Walking in spring-like sunshine this week has been a blessing, and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed listening.
Thank you for the walk (I prefer "promenade", because the word is longer, and goes better with the sound of your steps on leaves and branches and earth and path). I enjoyed the calm, the birds, your words. A sort of haven within these gloomy times.
Thanks Felicia. Yes promenade does sound better, or perhaps perambulate! I found some wonderfully crunchy horse chestnut leaves. Happy to be able to share a little tranquility with you.
I’m so sorry your cat is poorly. Our Jessica is so loved- yet starting to age- I have every sympathy. They can be such a worry. Sending healing thoughts.
The settled sunny weather has been bliss this week. I am tired of the dark. As usual I love your pics x
Jessica is 12. A Maine Coon- so as a pedigree I’m told not to expect her to have a long life. She loves the sun- has been basking in it today. Enjoy the sun with Crumble tomorrow. Fingers crossed she improves after the injection. These cat injections can seem miraculous! Wish there was a human equivalent sometimes!
Thank you Linda. I’m unexpectedly encouraged by our visit to the vet; another injection but hopefully she is beginning to improve. Crumble is around 12-13, and has been with us for 10 years. I’m looking forward to sitting in the sun with her tomorrow, this weather is more welcome than ever.

Such beautiful writing. As always. I hope your call gets well soon.
Thank you Ren. She is now much better; the wonder of steroid injections!
That is good news! They are such gifts. We pay the price, but may it be years from now!

Thanks Rebecca, so pleased you enjoyed reading this. Finally, today, we feel like we have turned the corner with her 💛

Hope your cat is continuing to do better.
Thanks Jan. She’s been brighter this morning, so we’re hoping she’ll continue to improve.

Yes, perambulation! The word sounds more sophisticated than promenade, and it's an English word, so I should use it :-)
, (and yes I could hear the crunchness!!)
