Beautiful piece of writing. I’ve been thinking of driving to the coast (we’ve got a whole 13 miles of it here in New Hampshire) all year. Maybe this weekend I will actually do it.
Having grown up on the south coast and lived by the North Sea when we first moved to Yorkshire, I am familiar with your descriptions but find them no less wonderful for that. Thanks for sharing.
A visit to the beach and the sea always does wonders for the soul; there's something quite special about the vastness of the sea. Enjoy your time away!
Thank you Yasmin. Nature does it so well. The thrift caught my eye, but then I realised how fascinating the colour and pattern of lichen was too. A rock to return to.
So beautiful. I almost felt I was there with you. It sounds blissful. Love the photo’s- the cormorants drying their wings and the sea thrift. Thank you as ever.
Thank you Linda. I’ve been wanting to walk some of the Moray coastal trail for a while. You would love it. So much birdsong. And today a small copper basking on the path, which I haven’t seen before.
It sounds fantastic. You are right-I’d love it. Sandy beaches and birds! What could be better! You have had the weather too. I’ve never seen a small copper either! Did you spot any dolphins? I’ve told Mike we need to plan a walk there.
You do! No dolphins or porpoises sadly. Apparently there was a pod of orcas last week. I loved hearing the seals out on their rocks (whoo, whoo) and I adore eider ducks—they sound like they’re gossiping (ooh, ooh, did you hear what she did). I’ve never seen or heard so many songbirds, and they don’t always immediately take flight, so you get chance to see them. I unexpectedly found a yellowhammer in one of the photos I took this morning. A lot of the foreshore is rocky, but quite fascinating (must look up the geology) and there are some wonderful lichens.
It sounds fabulous! Orcas!! I love the singing of seals. And the sound of eiders. Its an amazing sound. Rebecca Hooper says they sound like grandmothers cooing over a baby! Saw (and heard) lots in Seahouses last week. I used to see lots of yellowhammers as a child- but none since about 1985!

Glad that you enjoyed it David, thank you. I hope you do.
This is gorgeous, thank you for taking us along
Always good to have your company.

Thanks Dave. You’d enjoy the Moray shoreline; plenty of interesting geology.
You know me well 😂

Thanks Sophie! It was wonderful, and while my body is back home, my mind is still elsewhere.
Gosh, that last photograph, Michela. It's stunning!

I just love accompanying you on your walks. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Jamie, you are so welcome.
I love that you are having this refreshing break Michela! And generously sharing the experience with us.
Thank you Margaret. It’s been a wonderful week of scenery, birdsong, and flowers. The Moray coast in May is truly stunning.
I’m thinking that everywhere in this month of May is stunning. 😊
Quite possibly. So many flowers…

Ahh, a breath a fresh air! Thank you for sharing the beauty you are currently experiencing.
Thanks Manuela. I may just have to share some more next week!
Beautiful images, beautiful words. Thank you.
You’re very welcome Ralph, thank you.
Really dramatic coastline. And that thrift -- i'm besotted with it. It's become synonymous with coast in Brittany for me.
You would love the Moray coast Jan, it’s beautiful. Here’s the alternate view of thrift that I nearly included!
