Gorgeous everything Michela! Especially Monday's watercolour... you've captured not only the shade of winter but the feeling also — beautiful!
This autumn - winter cross over has been one to remember here, it's the first time in twenty years I have known snow fall in November while the leaves are still clinging to so many trees!
Thank you Susie, it makes me happy that Monday caught your eye as it is my favourite too. Books are somehow more freeing than sheets… which can be frustrating but at least they close neatly rather than accumulate in piles on the table!
I’m so glad you have had your snow, with all the magic and luminous light it brings.
Thanks Sarah, that’s very kind. It’s process more than outcome, though I must set a course next year to produce some thing or things. I’m not the completer/finisher I used to be! In turn I will envy you your Atlantic rainforest and coastline…
'Pink light primps the sky’s bruises before the curtain closes on the sun.' : a particularly gorgeous, euphonic line - absolutely loved the series of little poems you made of your observations. Your images/prints are beautiful and equally full of interest and texture. Put together, this is an absolute treat to see, read and 'hear'. I always love your posts, this one even more so. Thank you.
Thanks Gen, that’s so good to hear. I make no pretence at poetry, though I do try to be poetic, if that makes sense and I enjoy letting words break from sentences and paragraphs. I have just bought Mary Oliver’s ‘A Poetry Handbook’, so you never know! Yesterday afternoon brought a smoker’s sky, nicotine stained ;-)
I love this idea! Work and life has been so busy I have let writing and photography fall by the wayside. Thank you for the inspiration of small daily practice of noticing ❤️
Thank you! The hardest thing is not getting started, but staying with it. I am not the ‘completer/finisher’ that I used to be and I am learning that whatever the format of you choose to journal then, it needs to be simple and immediate, otherwise I fall behind and at some point stop. I hope you find a way to collect your memories and moments, or simply tap into them.
That’s so good to hear Wendy, thank you. I’ve never been a diary writer, but compiling these letters, doing or recording some small thing each day, does help to consolidate the memories and build momentum.
I love watching Klimt's Ladies change their apparel in the seasons. I'm saving this letter to look through over and over, as I collect my own noticings in this busy time of year when I work hard to slow down and observe.
It does feel like the seasons are moving so quickly Leslie, even before everything else is added to calendars and schedules. I hope you succeed in slowing down.
I struggle to walk past these birch now without thinking of them as Klimt’s ladies! They’ve been looking rather naked recently, so it was good to see them in the snow. I realise that I’ve photographed them frequently in autumn and winter, so I shall have to add spring and summer to the wardrobe.
Beautiful, Michaela.
Thanks Debbie.

So pretty! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!
Thank you! I think our snow and ice is pretty tame compared to your winters!
😃
(In the old days, but in the past few years winter has been shorter on both ends and with less snow. Climate change is real 😳.)
Sunlight brings riches, just gorgeous, they all are, photos and drawings, words too. So much snow, I may be a little envious (from afar).

Love this too! I may buy that book myself. Thank you.

Absolutely beautiful (as always!) … Thank you. 🙏
It’s lovely to hear from you Amy. Thanks so much for staying with me 💛
Love the idea of little small enchantments ❤️
Thanks Sophie. It can be the smallest of things but they really do make a big difference.
Love these small thoughts and observations that add up to a big, nicely nuanced picture and a real sense of flow.

I love everything about this letter- your words, photos, sketches, paintings. Wonderful Michela. Thank you.
That’s so lovely to hear Linda, thank you. And it was mild enough today to venture out with a sketchbook once more!

So, so beautiful. Thank you 🙏.
You’re very welcome Mary.
Magnificent words, watercolor, and photos.
Thanks Stacy, that’s kind of you.
Klimt's Ladies and Alder Leaves...simply beautiful Michela!
Thanks Lin, it’s great to know these caught your eye.
