As wonderful as always Michela, thank you for sharing. And, because it’s taken me so long to get around to reading/listening, it truly invokes the sticky warmth of August while I look out on a wet and rather miserable Yorkshire, November morning. Gorgeous.
That’s great to hear Dave, thank you. Yes, today began moody (swags of mist on the hillsides) before closing in to thick fog, precursor to rain. So you’ve done me a favour by reminding me of those dry warm days!
Love the addition of the pipes and wow beginning of autumn is stunning where you are. I used to dislike autumn so much, I only learnt to appreciate it recently and learnt to appreciate just how beautiful the play of colours is.
As always, such a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle. I love the colors of autumn. Though the brilliant summer palette has its charm, I have always been drawn to the subtler hues of fall.
Also, love the pipes in the background! What a delight. Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks Jamie. I think we have all come to value small escapes in recent years.
I hope we will have some subtle hues this fall! Our hazel bushes are giving up their leaves now; on balance a cooler and hopefully wetter fall will be very welcome. It will make little difference this season, but perhaps help the roots ahead of winter.
Lovely post, Michela! I can feel the changing seasons as I read your words and look at your beautiful images. I haven't started seeing signs of fall where I live, but I know it will start to make its appearance by this time next month.
Thank you Todd. We really shouldn’t be seeing so many signs here. Shortening days, misty mornings yes, but the trees are changing colour and losing leaves due to lack of water. As a photographer of course, it all prompts curiosity.
Most trees in my area are evergreen, so they don’t lose their leaves. However, we’ve been in a decades-long megadrought with shorter winters and longer summers, so the trees are getting stressed, and our wildfire risk is often extremely high. 😞
Thank you Linda! The pipe band was great - half wish I’d known so I could have walked up to see them, but at the same time I enjoyed the way the sound mingled with the birds. Grey cloud ever since—hope you’re faring better for the weekend.
Gorgeous images Michela and the paintings look beautiful too. I am embracing the slightly cooler weather now as this summer has really knocked me for six with too higher temperatures for my liking. Inspirational images, as always
Thanks Jon, I appreciate that. Yes, much as I like being warm it has made it hard to summon up the energy to do things. It’s back to being a one fleece summer now!
Thanks Amy! The pipe band was too good not to include 🙂 I thought I would be too late to walk up to the village, but in the end I quite enjoyed the sound mingling with the evening birdsong.

Thanks Sophie. September opens dark, damp and potentially dreich, but I have my fingers crossed!
Thank you for this!
You’re very welcome Manuela!

Exquisite words, pictures, plants, creatures, places.
Thank you so much Lynne.
What a lovely read, thanks
Thanks Dave. Good to hear from you.

Wow Michela! Those photographs are absolutely stunning. Loved the birds and bagpipes!

Been grey here all week. Chilly morning and evening. Not a drop of rain. Soon though I think/hope! We need it.

Yes!!!!
Beautiful colors and textures. (I, too, am ready for summer’s end.)
Thank you. I confess this time of year always makes me feel melancholy. I love autumn, but always feel sad to say goodbye to warmer weather.
Such lovely photographs!
Thanks Shital. I’m impatiently waiting for the grey blanket of cloud to clear!
Me too!
These thoughts and photos made me feel like I was really there, seeing through gentle eyes.
Thanks Davor. Yes, I guess there is a softness to the way I look at things.
Yes, there really is.
Your words and photographs complement each other beautifully. And I loved the birdsong and bagpipes in the background!
